Tennis Weekend 12-11-2022

Dawn and her team had a good tennis weekend!

USTA JTT Winter Sectionals marks the end of the Fall season.

Dawn and her team qualified 3rd to earn them a place in the Sectional Tournament.

 

Good tennis weather and good tennis from all the teams!

 

 

I was proud to see the team building their friendship and encouraging each other throughout the season.

 

 

Good fun, good sportsmanship and a 4th place finish!

 

 

Bonus! Everyone scored nice prizes!

It's sad that this will be the last JTT season for many of them. JTT has been a great way to improve tennis skills and make new friends. Like in other sports, it's been a great way for parents to connect too. I would have never found out about the awesome grinds from Max and Lucy's if not for tennis. I hope to see these kids and their parents again in the future.

Monday 05-23-2022

No surf for me for 2 more days. I'm all good but just busy with getting everything ready for Dawn's Graduation!

 

Yesterday Dawn and her Team had their final day of the Spring 2022 USTA Team Tennis Sectional Championships. It was a tough weekend with tennis, Prom and more tennis. Many of the team are also seniors with senior activities too. They had fun and gave it their best!

 

What a great team! Thank you Coach Richard for your dedication and time!

OIA Soft Tennis Championships 11-28-2021

Recap from yesterday:

Coming in to the Championship Tournament, Dawn and her partner were grateful to just to be there.

Only the top 4 Doubles from the East and top 4 from the West are invited to play.

They had to settle their nerves for the first match, played well, won and advanced into the Semi-Finals!

The next match was very tough, playing two very good, hard hitting girls, they had their hands full. They played smart and took the match!  Now, they're in the FINALS!!!

They had a great start but could not keep the momentum against the best from the West. They kept the match close but lost to get second place. No shame in their game!  This was a great finish for them in their Senior year! There were so many exciting, nail-biting, butt-clenching moments and so many intense rallies. 

We are super happy for them and I feel very proud of their level of play and finish!

 

Kayli and Dawn were the only Doubles from Kalani, and the only Doubles from the East to make the Final Four!

Respect to Mililani for their players! High quality Tennis, 3 of the 4 were from Mililani.

We had to celebrate with a good dinner!  No left over turkey tonight, Dawn wanted some Hot Pot from Cafe Asia.

OIA Junior Varisty Girls Tennis Finals 12-15-2018

Today was the OIA JV Girls Tennis Semi-Finals and Finals.

Dawn's school won their semi against Pearl City to advance to the finals against Mililani.

Mililani was just too tough - hats off to them - they're a good team with lots of talent and experience.

I'm SUPER proud of Dawn and her school team for playing well, playing honest and making to the finals!!!!

On a positive note - Dawn's tennis team had their last regular season match on Saturday.

Its a great season for them - Undefeated in regular season. On to sectionals!
