It’s been 3 years since my mom has passed.
It’s been 2 years since we sold her house.
I miss my mom.
I miss the house that I grew up in.
I miss her famous shrimp pineapple that she would make every Christmas and serve in the same yellow Tupperware container.

While I love Christmas, it does stir up memories of mom. Good and happy memories. Memories of family dinners and parties with good food and laughs.

I can see her standing in the kitchen cooking the egg and tuna for her sushi. I can smell the vinegar in the rice. I can see her waving to us in the yard with the dogs as we drive away after our Sunday dinner.
I will treasure those memories forever!
Growing up we had the same silver artificial Christmas tree with a four color wheel spinning under it. Year after year mom would put up the tree. I got tired of it. Now, I miss it. I miss the tree because it reminds me of mom.

We also had a big, old stereo which must’ve been state of the art once upon a time. I was glad to see it go after I got my new modern component stereo. Now I miss that old stereo. When we were kids, we would play Christmas songs on that old stereo while my sister and I would line up our presents to see who got the most presents. I never won but it was fun to try. Mom would always let us open 1 present on Christmas Eve.

Our stereo looked almost exactly like this

I love Christmas for the gift giving and being the season for sharing. Christmas memories make it more special.
Thanks for letting me share some of my memories. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and keep your memories alive!
