Big Island 09-29-2012

Since it's Fall break for Dawn, we wanted to do a little R&R in Waikoloa.

I checked the surf, one last time before leaving home.

 

Breakfast at the Airport..... Dawn was happy but Dora said 'where's my 7 pieces of bacon?' (joke for Miles)

We dropped off our bags and headed to Kona to meet some family.

 

 

 

 

Teshima's is a popular place in Kona.... must be good they've been around since 1929.

 

 

Somebody was hungry!

 

 

Several people got this - 'Pupu Tray' a little bit of everything.

 

 

I went for the Pork Tofu - it was good.

 

 

Dora tried the Hamburger Steak - Old style, homemade - just like Grandma made. I was happy I got to finish her plate.

 

 

Back at the hotel - we got a super nice 2 bedroom unit.

 

Dawn had to endure the whole day of driving and waiting  - FINALLY at the pool!

 

 

Kids have a good 'selective' memory - Dawn remembered they make a good smoothie!

 

 

While Dawn was doing her Kumon homework, I took a walk around the property.

 

 

Although it felt like we just had lunch, it was dinner time. We just checked out the food court.

School Report 09-27-2012

Today, I chose not to surf. This morning there was a function at Dawn's school called Grandparents' Day Tea. AND Dawn was one of the emcees. My shy little girl auditioned and got the part of emcee!!!!!  I would not miss this for the world.

 

In honor of all the grandparents!

Here's Luke and Dawn - the 2 emcees.  Dawn was PERFECT!!!!! She remembered everything and spoke clearly. She was AWESOME!  I'm soooo PROUD!!!!  Luke was great too!

 

 

The kids 'interview' a grandparent or grandparents. Dawn chose Dora's mom. They ask them questions about life when they were children. It's a great way to learn about the past and funny to hear that grandparents eat candy and get into trouble too!

How's the waves in town?

Looks like Country's coming alive but no matter to me..... did my usual duty - Dance and Gymnastics today.

 

While at 99 Ranch, I picked up some salsa ingredients.

Got home and got busy!

School Report 09-21-2012

Today I volunteered to help at Dawn's school fundraising event. The kids just run around the school while us parents donate money to supplement the DOE's funding for our school.

 

I was part of the team to set-up and man this 'Water Station'.

ALL the kids did great and had fun.  We also raised a lot of money for our school.

The morning started slow but I'll call it 'the BEST day of the week' because of the good direction, clean conditions and EMPTY line-up.
