Perfect conditions with a good little wave every once in while....would have been GOOD if was uncrowded!

Today is Lionel's birthday! I found out when I checked my calendar when I came to work, otherwise I would have given him a birthday wave! Oh well, next year Lionel! Hope you have a Happy Birthday!

Mom wanted to go to Tanaka Saimin tonight.
I got this Hamburger Steak and Teri pork. It was pretty good but you can't beat the Teri Pork from HK's!

My cousin Ruth is in town from Ohio to visit her Mom. Ruth's brother Norman wanted to have dinner together since we hardly get to see her. Norman is a good surfer and was the one who got me started longboarding by giving me one of his Ernie Tanaka longboards. Norman's also a frequent visitor of my blog and he suggested we go to Cafe Miro. Good choice.
Located right on Waialae near 9th ave.

The Chef usually provides a complimentary soup du jour - this evening we had a seafood soup with some fancy French name that I forgot. I do remember it was good with large chunks of lobster!
Dawn was starving so we got her going with this pasta - she pounded it, plus a few dinner rolls!
Seafood salad never disappoints - this was my choice.
Ahi Carpaccio - another popular salad.
Prosciutto Ham salad with walnuts. I can't remember if this was on the menu before or not, but it sounded good. Ruth ordered this and really enjoyed it.
I even had a drink..... nah! This is water that looks like beer from the candle behind it!
Second course - Big Island Abalone with scallops.
Second course - Tai snapper in Almond Browned butter. This is a MUST HAVE everytime Dora and I come. After I properly eat the fish, I sop up all the butter sauce with the bread till the plate is clean! It's that good!
Vegetable terrine - Chef provided this to those who didn't get a second course. Nice touch!
My entree - Rack of Lamb. The normal serving is 2 chops but I found out you can add-on another chop. 'Make mine 3!' (Leighton now you know what to do). Love that sauce!
Braised Short Ribs - Dora and Norman finished theirs.
This is the Tai Snapper as an entree - Ruth and Cat got this.

Everyone else went with the dessert sampler - perfect ending!
Dora and I really like Cafe Miro because the food is good and the atmosphere is relaxing. I'm glad we got to share it with others. Hey Ruth, get your fill of all the local food while you can, have a safe trip back home. It was great seeing you again!

We were talking in the line-up about food one morning (like we do sometimes) and the someone brought up the BLT Steakhouse. We had heard good things so we gave it a try Saturday night.
I guess BLT doesn't stand for 'Bacon Lettuce and Tomato'. BLT Steakhouse is located in the Trump Waikiki Hotel.
The girls just wanna have fun.
We got an awesome private room fully equipped with large LED TV playing Surf TV all night long.
For starters you are served a wonderful Pate with toast and these superb Popovers. I loved them ALL.
We got Dawn started with her Cheeseburger and Fries.
I tried this Hamachi in Honey-Orange Sauce - Terrific!
I also wanted to try this Grilled Double-Cut bacon - Smokey and salty in all it's fatty goodness.
Dora's Caesar Salad - a large serving.
Lobster Cobb Salad - they said this was good!
Spider Rolls looked good
Ahi Tartare - nice presentation.
Braised Short Ribs - looked so good! Tony said was fork tender.

This is the Porterhouse for two - Leighton loved it all even gnawing on the bone!
Hashbrowns - serving was enough for four.

If you were thinking the steaks looked plain, yes they were but these truly wonderful sauces make them come alive. Here's (L to R) Peppercorn, Bearnaise and Red Wine Reduction.
My Ribeye - tender and cooked perfectly!

Crepe Souffle' with PassionFruit Sauce.
Peanut Butter Tart with Banana Ice Cream - Dawn demolished it!
Bonus Brownies 'from the Chef' - chewy on the inside crisp on the outside.
Conclusion: We all agreed 'we'll be back'. Excellent service and food! Give it a try!!!!
