Surf Report 05-30-2010 & Sunday Dinner
Waves: 1 - 2 feet
Wind: Slight to strong Trades
First thing in the morning the parking was filling fast, plenty cars but no waves. We all went out and the early bunch scored some good early sets almost 3 feet. But that didn't last - as more people came out the wind got stronger and the waves fewer. A disappointing day for many, but I was just glad to catch some waves after not surfing the last two days.

Our Sunday dinner tonight was at Kikuya Japanese Restaurant. It was a nice get together with my mother, my in-laws, my sister Cat & husband Kyle along with Dora, Dawn and myself.
A favorite 'good deal' place located in Kalihi behind Diner's Drive Inn.
Teriyaki Chicken
Shrimp Tempura - super crispy!
Tonkatsu - I got this with the Shrimp Tempura!
Misoyaki Butterfish a little burnt but I like it like that.
Broiled Saba

Dora's sizzling Ribeye - it's smokin'
Dawn really liked the Inari sushi and miso soup but her mouth is always open WIDE for ice cream!

Surf Report 05-26-2010
No surf for me today, going to work early to leave early. Last day of school for Dawn and there's going to be a potluck lunch and activities for the kids.
I did do a 'drive by' and this is what I saw at the beach....
What happened?
The surf looked small but the winds were calm.

Leighton's Birthday Dinner 05-22-2010
Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate Leighton's birthday.
Leighton's choice - Cafe Miro in Kaimuki.
Ready to order
First course
Takako selected the Raw Oysters with Ponzu Sauce. The osyters look so fresh.
Others chose the Ahi Carpaccio - good choice
Others including myself went with the Seafood Salad with warm vinagrette dressing.
Birthday boy ordered the Chef's Sampler - 5 different appetizers!
Second Course
This is the Opakapaka in special Browned Butter with Toasted Almonds - Dora and I ALWAYS get this!
Hokkaido Scallops with Curry Sauce - another good one.
Here's a special that night - Veal in Butter sauce - very tender and tasty.
Tony and Takako got the Moi, it can be cooked whole (like pictured) or filleted. This comes in the same Browned Butter with Toasted Almonds - Winnah!
Leighton tried the Rack of Lamb in Mint Sauce - I've had this before - another good choice. Aily took a liking to it too and might have had just as much as Leighton.
Aily is turning into quite a photo star - ready for the camera!
