Happy New Year's Eve 12-31-2009

We're going to my sister Cat's house tomorrow and I'm making Kalbi. I cut the meat and am marinating in my secret sauce, check it out.

Grandma and Grandpa treated us to dinner at Outback Steakhouse, our New Years dinner.

Surf Report 12-31-2009 & Happy New Year's Eve

Waves: 1 - 2 feet

Wind: Light offshore in the dark, then onshore when the sun started to rise

Unbelievable - the wind was perfect as we waited for the sunrise. As soon as we started to hit the water, the wind switched to straight onshore. But being the last day of the year - 'you gotta go'. Actually had a few decent rides with some head high waves, just a little lumpy.

Happy New Year's Eve to all !!!!!!!

Have lots of fun but please be safe - you can't surf if you get hurt.

We'll be having dinner at Outback Steakhouse tonight (can you say Double Lobster Tails?) and playing some fireworks tonight. Tomorrow is Lunch at my sister's house.

I probably won't surf tomorrow so can someone catch a waves for me - thanks!

Wind: 10 mph Onshore

'Oh Sh*t' was the phrase many of us said as we stepped out of our cars. Surf was crap. What happened to the glassy conditions we had yesterday?

Hat's off to Brandon who was the only regular to brave the wild surf.

Might be the same tomorrow - stay home and go pound some mochi.

Mostly 1 foot with a few rare 2 footers. Very crowded for the amount of waves we had - lot of second shift surfers sneaking out early to beat the onshore winds.

Surf going down tomorrow - stay home and save your gas money and go buy fireworks.

We had a great Christmas!

When we woke up we found Santa came to our house and liked the cookies we left AND he drank ALL the milk - Dawn said 'Santa likes milk'. Santa also left alot of goodies for us. The Princess Books were Dawn's favorite.

Time to cook - I decided to make 'Mini Beef Wellingtons'. Here's the beef simmering in beef broth.

Next prepare the gravy - a rich Portobella Mushroom gravy to top the wellingtons.

 Christmas lunch was at Uncle Crow's house - Crow always has the best seafood pupus. Here's the fresh sashimi.

SANTA DELIVERS!!! Nice bump on the South side with perfect conditions - thanks Santa!  We definitely had a 'Holiday' atmosphere in the water with everybody and their cousin out. Just a beautiful day to be in the water.

Still small but at least it's not smaller than yesterday - it's 'holding' at 1/2 a foot. Wes and I went to Concessions where the waves were plentiful and rides long.

FUNKY is the word of the day because that's how the waves were. It was funky and peaky East wrap waves. I didn't care because I didn't surf this weekend - there were lots of waves, just short rides.

Good News - Today is Winter Solstice or the shortest day of the year. That means we can start paddling out earlier soon!!!
