No surf for me yesterday and no surf for me today - the strong wind was scaring me away. If it gets good let me know.
Happy Valentines Day (belated) to all!!! We celebrated Valentines Day at 'J Restaurant' in the famous Waikiki Double Tree Alana Hotel.
We went with the Valentines Day Special Menu, which was a four course tasting menu with option of adding a fish dish to make it a five course dinner. What do you think? Four vs. Five? 'Bring it on' five course for us!
First course was a Carrot and Curry soup.
It sounded interesting or weird depending on how you feel however it tasted great - it reminded me of a creamy and sweet Thai curry.
This is Dawn's first course, well I take that back actually we ordered her Mashed Potatoes but that night they only had Pesto Mashed Potatoes, which weren't to her liking so she opted for 'le French Fries'.
Second course - Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops with saffron risotto. The green stuff is edamame aioli.
I enjoyed this dish and so did Dora even though she rarely eats scallops.
Third course - Opakapaka. There was a very nice description of the dish on the menu too bad I can't remember it. All I know... 'was good'.
The fourth course was Lamb, however Dora doesn't like Lamb so I requested the Filet Mignon for her. That's the Pesto Mashed Potatoes besides it.
My fourth course, the Lamb. I love Lamb and these chops were super tender and the sauce was some kind of wine reduction and very tasty, it went perfectly with the lamb. It was served with the pesto mashed potatoes and ratatouille, which is like sauteed veggies. The ratatouille looked just like on the movie Ratatouille.
Fifth course - Macadamia Nut Ice Cream with Island fruits - very touristy (what do you expect in Waikiki) but light, refreshing and simple.
Dawn's final and best course - Chocolate Ice Cream.
For some reason she never has a problem opening wide for this.
