Surf, Lunch & Garden 11-29-2008

The surf this morning is positively the smallest I've experienced at the park. There's nothing else to say.

We had lunch at the Mandalay in downtown, it's the old Yong Sing on Alakea. The place is beautiful and the food was great - it's the best Dim Sum I've had. The owners from the old Eastern Garden Restaurant opened this place and the regular food is great too. I enjoyed the House Special Noodle, Minute Chicken Cake Noodle too!!! We enjoyed the lunch and it was nice to see Baby Aily getting bigger. Thanks for lunch !!!!

Dora and I started a garden, we planted Green Onion, Watermelon, Mizuna, Dill, Bell Peppers, Parsley and Celery.

Surf Report 11-28-2008

I'll call it a 'so-so' day in the surf. Some lumpiness with the 'weak-east-dying-out' kind of waves. I'll give the surf a '2'.

On the positive, the wind was light, weather good and we had time to 'talk story'. I'll give the day a '8'.

Check out CT's SUT (Stand Up Turkey). I'll give the Turkey a '10'.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! 11-27-2008

Happy Thanksgiving!!!   We went to cousin Norm's house for Thanksgiving lunch, I'm still so full I can't post a food picture. Everyone must be sick of seeing food too huh?  We had fun seeing relatives and playing games, this year Dawn was part-time Bingo caller - and she was good, calling it loud and clear!

 

Kai asked Crow 'What are you thankful for?'                            Crow said 'I'm thankful that I'm not a turkey!'

 

Surf Report 11-26-2008

Surf was junk, for real. Small windswell and very windy.

No surf for me tomorrow - I have taxi duty in the morning and kitchen duty before lunch. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving and maybe I'll see you on Friday.

Yup, more eating. For the first time I noticed they have Rack of Lamb on the menu. It was probably there all the time, I just never noticed it. Well what's Rack of Lamb without a Lobster Tail to keep it company?!?! They don't have the best Plating presentation but I like the food.

Surf Report 11-25-2008 & Happy Birthday!!!

The waves were still pretty good 2 - (maybe) 3 foot windswell, but it was like a party out there - we had lot's of visitors. Some SUPers from Florida came a visit - hopefully they visit another spot tomorrow. Word is: surf will be flat tomorrow, you can stay home or go North.

Happy Birthday to me!!!   It pays to advertise!   I got an autographed Eddie Aikau poster, I got a G-Shock watch, I got some awesome SUP rail tape, I got some yummy goodies from Big Island & Maui and I got not one, but TWO nose guards!!!  Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes and special thanks to Leighton, Tony, Jan, Sylvia and Hans.

Some of my office friends took me to lunch at Rokkaku in Ala Moana Center. It is a nice small place with good service and tasty food.

Surf Report 11-24-2008

A good monday morning of surf, 2 - 3 feet windswell - windy but fun and only a few out!

 

Well, tomorrow is my birthday, I can't believe I'll be 39 already, my how time flies.

I could use a new G-shock watch(hint, hint) or new Nose guard(hint, hint).

Surf Report 11-22-2008

No kona winds, but no surf either. I woke up wondering if can surf today or not. The air was cold so I figured it wasn't onshore. It was only Leighton and myself, Tony said he was coming down but I think the rain scared him away. I thought we were getting a small bump but it was barely a foot. Still glad to get in the water and catch waves.

Everyone should stay home again tomorrow - with all the rain the Ala Wai will be getting 'cleaned out'.

Outback Steakhouse 11-21-2008

We went to the Hawaii Kai Outback Steakhouse. I was going to eat 'lite' but somehow the words 'Ribeye with a lobster tail' came out when it was my turn to order.

Keiji got the Prime Rib, Doris got the New York Steak, our visitors both got the Ribeye also.

Surf Report 11-21-2008

Best day all week. 1 - 2 silky smooth and not crowded. I expected to wake up to storming kona winds but was pleasantly surprised to find perfect conditions and small waves. They say the storm is coming later today.

CT came by via SUP to deliver my prize - a bag of Maui Potato Chips! My favorite greasy-salty-crunchy snack!!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, check the 'neighborhood' section on the right somewhere. There's links to other bloggers; 'SUPrman' and 'Jonny' - check it out!

Surf Report 11-20-2008 & Peter SUP

Don't get excited - the surf was a 'little' bigger today than yesterday, but it was that 'east-build-and-die-out-fast' kind of wave. Thanks for all who came down, I was not lonely today.

For the record - CT is NOT Charlie Teves. Speaking of CT, turns out I won the 'Wat-Dat' contest, Hoo-Hoo!!!

We have a new SUP in the lineup - Peter is the proud father of a bouncing baby blue 9-2.
