Surf Report 9-17-2008 & Indo Pre-Trip Pics

Surf was not very good - I'll say it was a '3' - weak and inconsistent.

Count down to Indo - 1 day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can not believe I'm really leaving tomorrow!!!!!!!!

To All: Keep control of our Spot and if you want the surf report - you gotta do it the old-fashioned-way - go down yourself!!!! I hope you get waves when I'm gone, take care & I'll see you all in a couple weeks!

 

Just wanted to share my excitement with you. This is the boat we will be living on.

This is what I hope we will see and experience.

I can barely do any work today - I have Indo-Brain.

Surf Report 9-16-2008

A nice relaxing day for surf. The little waves we had yesterday are gone - basically flat with a rare chest high wave. Check out this boat pulling into the Ala Wai Harbor.

Wouldn't this be cool to cruise and surf on this!                                   Yes, helicopter too!

'It's a Girl!!!!' Leighton called to say Aily came into the world at 11:36pm last night. 6 pounds 14 ounces and 20 inches long. Congratulations to them!!!

Sunday Dinner 9-14-2008

First of all Takako is in the hospital as of Sunday afternoon - we're thinking by tonight Leighton and Takako will be happy parents. Congratulations to the both of them!!!

I didn't surf today - I prepared French Toast, Bacon and Country Potatoes for breakfast. I thought it would be nice to make and eat breakfast together for a change. Rumour has it, the surf was 2 - 2 1/2 feet in the morning - we'll see tomorrow.

We were going to eat at Hinome-something-or-other (King st. - the old Taco bell) but it was closed, so we ended up at Choi's Kitchen (King st - a few stops back).

The place is strictly no-frills, you serve your own tea and water, I even scooped my own rice refill. But the food was very tasty and dinner for the five of us was forty-somehting-bucks!!!

Aloha Parade Day!

I got a visitor pass to surf the famous SO. Waves were terrible and very crowded not to mention the recent shark attack that occurred there. I'd stay away if I were you.

Sunday will be a day of rest - I'll make breakfast for the family.

The dinner last night inspired me to cook dinner tonight. I prepared a chuck roast 'Braised-Short-Rib-Style' for the family.

There it is fresh out of the oven, it's resting on a bed of roasted red potatoes, celery and carrots. Fork tender and packed with flavor - the buggah was a winnah!!! Dawn saw me taking the picture and wanted to take a picture of her dinner, here's her chicken noodle soup.

Dining Report 9-12-2008

We always go out to dinner before somebody leaves for a trip. My pre-Indo dinner was at Le Bistro. This was one of the BEST Le Bistro dinners we had. Doris and I started with the French Onion soup while Keiji got a tossed salad. Doris tried the Kurobuta Pork Chop, Keiji got his usual Braised Short Ribs, but Dora and I both got a special Beef Quartet. The Beef Quartet consisted of Beef Le beuf (Prime Rib), Filet Mignon, Kobe Beef Burger (stuffed with Foie Gras) and Braised Short Ribs - this thing was SUPER GOOD.

Surf Report 9-12-2008

Surf was pretty junk - I'll call it a '3'. Waves had a strong east direction AND we had some funky SE winds for a while.

On the positive side - at least it was ridable and not too crowded. The winds were back to offshore as I was leaving.

 Hmmm... maybe I gotta park and surf somewhere else. Think I'll see if I can get a pass to surf with JonnyBoy and CT.

Surf Report 9-11-2008

May we have a moment of silence for the victims of the terrorist attacks seven years ago.

"Fo' real" the swell is gone. I rode my SUP for the first time in about a week - it was fun. Courts was a smooth 1 - 2 feet coming slightly from the east. The wind was light and so was the crowd - kinda back to the normal.

Ok, the last two days were REALLY very good.
