Weekend Report 6-30-2008

No surf for me today - Its my turn to take Dawn to school and today they had water-play-day so I voluteered to help. Leighton said it was good and uncrowded - I'll be there tomorrow second shift.

Saturday after surf I vacuumed, mopped and cleaned the house while Dora had lunch with her friends. I think she liked that - I don't mind doing my share.

Sunday, surf was junk again - came really small and crowded - I came home and we went back to the beach. Dawn wanted to go beach to swim. For dinner it was Hakone. We wanted to take our friend Darrell out for dinner. Dawn was REALLY good during dinner she ate well and sat very nicely - she must have had about 4 or 5 shrimp tempura.

Hakone is ALWAYS good. Below is my first round, sushi (raw scallop, toro and negitoro) tempura and grilled ribeye.

Round two - more ribeye, lamb chop, katsudon, sushi, tempura, some-kind chicken and asparagus.

Round three - slowing down already - more raw scallop sushi, oyster, shabu-shabu with ponzu and some-kind ogo.

Round four - pretty full but had to have some ikura and one more toro nigiri..

Dessert - I went for the 'healthy' stuff strawberries with condensed milk.

Surf Report 6-28-2008

Surf came up little solid 3 feet but East winds making things bumpy. I went SUP at Big Lefts for about an hour then went in and got my camera. It's been a while since I took some pictures, too bad it got overcast - the pictures would've been better with some sun.

Surf Report 6-27-2008

Surf was JUNK!!!   1 - 2 feet but WEAK, CRAPPY and CROWDED.

BUT.... it's Friday and Payday (for me) and I have a good lunch planned.

Courts looked like 2 - 3 feet but crowded. Winds were nice and light and seemed to be lining up better than yesterday.  I went SUP at Big Lefts with Leighton and Gene - it was good!

Surf came up a little - maybe 2 1/2 feet - but it was JUNK! Crowded, inconsistent, weak and weird. I'll rate it a '3'.

No swell yet - it was smaller than yesterday - maybe chest high. Mellow crowd and light winds.

Small waves this morning - wind swell action with plenty wind. Will the waves come up tomorrow? I'll believe it when I see it.

Weekend Report 6-22-2008

No surf for me this weekend - take a break and leave it for the weekend warriors - I'll be there tomorrow.

Yesterday Dawn went to the dentist - Dawn had had a good checkup, NO CAVITIES. Here we are eating breakfast at Mcdonalds - Dawn took the picture of me.

After breakfast we went to the Children's Discovery Center - Dawn had lots of fun with all the different stuff to play with..

For dinner we went to the Cheesecake Factory and we pigged out again. That's quite a busy Saturday. Today, Sunday I'm taking it easy.

 

Surf Report 6-20-2008

Happy Aloha Friday to all!

The surf dropped some more - 1 - 2 occasional 2 1/2 feet and very windy. We still went out and caught some good waves. Doesn't look good for the weekend - small and windy. I'm not surfing tomorrow, I have to take Dawn to the dentist early in the morning. Even if it's good tomorrow - please don't tell me - I don't want to hear it. Ha-ha-ha!

SPAC SYNOPSIS: After a previous flurry of good swells on the South Shores, the storms in the South Pacific have slowed down now and we see a more zonal wind pattern lately. Old Southern Hemi swell fades into the weekend as some background smaller SW swell blends in. Next week starts off slow then some new SSW swell moves in for the middle and second half of the upcoming week.

S groundswell (180-190) is dropping off quickly today and by Saturday waves will go back down into the knee-waist zone and a few leftover chest high sets show at top spots. Expect progressively smaller surf Sunday into Monday with most waves below waist high, although conditions do look to remain clean with modest trades.

The remaining storms stirring in the Southern Hemi are primarily aimed to the East of Hawaii and therefore are not focused towards the islands. This will lead to inconsistent surf as the next SSW energy (185-200) starts up next Tuesday and lasts into Friday, 27th. As of right now, it looks like a run of knee-waist-chest surf with occasional bigger sets at the best exposures, but again those waves will deal with decent lulls.

As those waves fade into the following weekend, we could see a slightly better, but still shadowed, SW swell from the Tasman Sea around the 30th. We'll keep you posted on the progress.

Surf dropped a little, 2 - 3 feet with a little more wind. I went SUP out Big Lefts, for a while it was just me and Leighton, later it got kinda crowded so I went back to Courts.
