There's a new 9-3 SUP in the lineup! Leighton got the 9-3 Ripper!

Surf was smaller than yesterday - maybe two feet at best. Still a good fun morning with beautiful sunny skies and clear water. 

Surf Report 5-27-2008

Surf was pretty good this morning - 1 to 2 1/2 feet - fun size surf with light crowd. I rode my 9-2 SUP with a different fin setup - it was very loose.

 

Congratulations to Gavin Hasegawa for winning the Masters Longboard division of the Surf into Summer contest at Bowls this past weekend!

Outlook through Monday Jun 2. Only small background south swells are expected through Sunday. A new south swell is expected to fill in Sunday night and Monday. Otherwise no significant swells are expected.

Surf Report 5-23-2008

Waves came down but we still had sets near 3 feet with smooth and glassy conditions. It was a fun SUP morning with light crowd. My new SUP board is GREAT!!!

Lunch time I'll be golfing at the Hawaii Prince Golf Course in a Golf Tournament.

Surf Report 5-22-2008

Got to the beach and the winds were straight on-shore. Lots of white water but mushy - I paddled out with Martin and Terry. Waves were mushy but rideable - then the winds swirled around and it was offshore clean and hardly anyone out. Sets were almost 4 feet and nice!!!!!

This morning gave us some nice conditions and nice waves - maybe 3 feet on the sets.

Hopefully we'll have waves all week.

I got my new 9-3 SUP from Paddle Surf Hawaii in Wahiawa - I love it!

It paddles good and is fast and loose in the waves.

Surf looks super-super-small - it doesn't seem possible for the waves to be so small. And how's this vog? Pretty bad.

I didn't go to the beach today and just came to work early. Country looks good but not town. Pray for surf on the south side.

Surf Report 5-12-2008

Surf was pretty small with bad direction - I went SUPing at Courts and Concessions - caught some decent waves and went in early.

Today is Dawn's 4th birthday! She's having cupcakes at school with her classmates. We'll celebrate by doing whatever she wants and probably go out for dinner.

I had a busy weekend. Saturday I had HASA contest at Kewalos - surf was small and windy. I got 4th in Longboard and 5th in Stand-Up. I hoped to do better - but that's the way it goes.

Sunday was Mother's Day - Dora and I took Dawn swimming at Magic Island in the morning - Dawn had a great time. Dinner was at Hakone - the food was AWESOME - super-good.

Sushi Bar, Sashimi and Crab!!!

 

Shrimp tempura, Lamb Chops, Shoyu Pork, Shabu-shabu and Prime Rib. The Prime rib was tasty, tender with a great au jus and creamy wasabi instead of horseradish. There was much more but after taking the pictures I had to go eat.

My new favorite sushi - raw scallop nigiri - I got this one after I said I was done, after I ate dessert. I wanted to get one last one.

Surf Report 5-9-2008

It was a very windy morning, but I think the wind brought some waves so it's not all bad. Maybe 3 foot (at best) windswell waves were better than nothing, it could've been super small and windy.

Totally different from yesterday morning - yesterday had super clean north winds creating super smooth water surfaces.

Surf Report 5-6-2008

We had some nice small waves this morning, but just like yesterday the waves just stopped about 7:30. Still a beautiful day to be in the water.

SPAC SYNOPSIS: There has not been much South Hemi swell energy aimed our way recently and nothing significant is lining up for this week or next. One storm that previously developed under New Zealand sent up a very shadowed, small, and inconsistent SW swell (~210-215). This swell will fill in on Tuesday (as the old SSW continues to drop out) and will peak over Wed/Thurs before fading. So, better South Shore spots (along with small Trade swell wrap) will pick up knee occasional thigh-waist high waves for the next several days. Again, next week is looking just as small at this time.

Looks like more SUP days to come.....

Beach Report 5-2-2008

Surf was a little smaller and a little windy, but a good morning for SUP-ing.

Check the boat stuck on the reef by Kewalos.

Can anyone identify this couple? They were just wandering around the beach - I think they were lost or something.
